Hypnosis has long been used to overcome fear and anxiety and also to quickly and comfortably cure phobias.
Even strong emotions such as anxiety, fear or overwhelm had the original purpose of keeping each of us safe.
For example, a fear of being run over is healthy when crossing the road. A phobia happens when the fear you have is no longer rational. If your fear of being run over is so strong that it prevents you from ever crossing a road, even when there is a pedestrian crossing or a set of traffic lights to stop the cars first, then that's a problem.
Anxiety and other kinds of fear may also escalate to levels which inhibit us from enjoying the every day activities of life.
Many of us will experience debilitating anxiety, fear or a simple phobia at some time in our lives. From work or social interactions to heights, public speaking, sea sickness or other forms of motion sickness, elevators, injections, spiders and birds, dentists and open spaces, there is nothing we can't develop anxiety or phobias about.
The good news is, we're not doomed to be stuck with them forever.
Hypnotherapy can provide an extremely effective cure for these problems as it provides the opposite of anxiety - deep relaxation. Disassociation, a powerful hypnotic technique, has also been shown to reduce fear by making troubling memories feel comfortable and much 'safer'. For example, this technique when used for phobias works by detaching the stimulus (trigger object) from the emotional response (fear) and 'updating' the brain with a new, more appropriate response. It teaches the mind a different way of responding to the feared object or situation.
Overcoming fears and anxiety can be an entirely comfortable process.
It's critical to teach people that you don't have to believe every thought that you have.
Have you ever thought a social event was going to be a drain, and then afterwards you realise that you had a really enjoyable time?
At State of Mind Hypnotherapy you can learn techniques to increase your sense of control and empowerment. Learn how to shift away from the limiting effects of negative thinking and self talk towards using the power of your mind to create a positive future and sense of well-being and inner connection.
